Police arrest man at South Kohala resort in stabbing incident
Hawaii County police arrested a 59-year-old South Korean man this morning in connection with the stabbing of a 52-year-old South Korean man at a South Kohala coast resort.
Police said they determined the older man confronted the younger man, who was in a hotel room with a 52-year-old woman who is known to the suspect and apparently is a member of his family or household.
The 52-year-old man sustained puncture wounds to his chest and thigh and was taken by fire personnel to North Hawaii Community Hospital, where he was remained in stable condition this afternoon. The woman was transported to the hospital for a head injury and released.
Officers responding to a report of a domestic dispute and possible stabbing arrived at the scene at 8:12 a.m. They arrested the 59-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and abuse of a family/household member. He was also taken to the hospital for injuries to his left hand and released. Upon release, the was taken to the Kona police cellblock.
Detectives continue to investigate the case.
