Vog is seen lingering today over Honolulu, but is expected to be blown south tonight and Monday.

The vog lingering across much of the state today should be blown south of the islands by north winds tonight and Monday.

But don’t expect to breathe easy for long.

The volcanic haze is likely to return Wednesday.

Forecasters said a weak cold front is moving over the state and will bring isolated showers to Kauai, Oahu and Molokai.

The weather system “should produce modest showers along north- and northeast-facing slopes of Kauai during the evening then to Oahu and possibly Molokai after midnight. Chances for rainfall remain extremely low across leeward sections and across the rest of the state,” foreasters said.

The north winds behind the front should blow the vog south of Oahu by Monday.

But forecasters said winds will likely shift to the south Tuesday night and that could bring vog back Wenesday through Friday.
