Police are looking for a 25-year-old man who was arguing with a woman in a parked van just before he allegedly set her on fire in Kahaluu on Monday.
The incident occurred at Kahekili and Kamehameha highways around 2 p.m.
Homicide detectives have classified the case as an attempted second-degree murder. No arrests have been made.
The 24-year-old woman suffered second-degree burns to her arms, legs and back.
Suspect in Aliamanu stabbing released
A 65-year-old Aliamanu man arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death early Monday morning was released Tuesday pending investigation.
Isagani Fajotina was arrested Monday for investigation of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder after police found his wife, Melita Fortin-Fajotina, a 65-year-old nursing assistant at the Queen’s Medical Center, unresponsive at their Wanaka Street home about 5:35 a.m. that day.
Fortin-Fajotina died at the scene. A second woman, 52, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Fajotina was taken to Queen’s, where he works as a janitor, in critical condition. He underwent surgery and was going to be OK, a family member said.
