President Barack Obama spent much of Wednesday afternoon, the 12th day of his Hawaiian vacation, with family and friends at a luau hosted by a childhood friend and golf buddy.
The first family arrived at the beachfront residence of Bobby Titcomb in rural Mokuleia at about 1:30 p.m.
Obama and Titcomb were classmates at Punahou School. Titcomb often joins the president for at least a few rounds of golf during the first family’s annual Christmastime stay on Oahu.
At 8:26 p.m., the president’s motorcade left Titcomb’s house for the ride back to Kailua.
Earlier in the day, the president left the first family’s rented Kailua vacation compound for his usual workout at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, which got underway at about 8:45 a.m.
Also on Wednesday morning, the president phoned Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to receive a briefing on the state’s response to severe weather and to offer continued support in the coming days, according to a statement from Eric Schultz, principal deputy press secretary.
