Korea’s most famous rapper PSY, best known for the 2012 hit “Gangnam Style,” which got 2.4 billion hits on YouTube, has since released other tracks. “Gentleman” was released two years ago, and its video received 205 million views on YouTube; “Napal Baji,” released two weeks ago, earned 13 million views; and PSY’s most recent song, “Daddy,” has already garnered 58 million views. “Napal Baji” and “Daddy” are from PSY’s new album, “PSY 7th Album.”
“Daddy” seems to have more traction and is getting a lot of press in Korea, but it doesn’t look like it will top “Gangnam Style.” The music video for “Daddy” is entertaining, much like “Gangnam Style,” but instead of the trademark horse dance, “Daddy” has a move similar to a scissor dance with PSY’s arms and legs swinging forward and backward.
The video is just as humorous as “Gangnam Style,” if not more, because viewers can watch PSY as an elementary school kid, adult and grandfather, with the help of CGI.
