Small quake shakes Big Island
A small earthquake rattled parts of Hawaii island early this afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, with an initial magnitude of 3.9, struck at about 12:23 p.m., at was centered about 10 miles southeast of Volcano and 27 miles south of Hilo, at a depth of about 4.6 miles, the USGS said.
Shaking from the quake was felt across the island, from Kailua-Kona to Keaau, according to responses from the “Did you feel it?” survey on the USGS web site
