Woman who died after truck backed into her near Queen’s is identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified today a 59-year-old woman who died after a delivery truck backed into her last month near the Queen’s Medical Center as Susan Dunbar.
Dunbar did not have an address and died of multiple complications of blunt force injuries of the torso, the office said.
Police said a Pepsi delivery truck driver reversed into Dunbar on Miller Street next to the hospital about 6 a.m. Nov. 5. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died Nov. 24.
Police said Dunbar may have been in a hospital wheelchair when she was struck.

One of these days, we will have news about a person surviving a truck backing up over them here in Honolulu.
The story does not confirm that she was a hospital patient. If she was, Queen’s needs to take some responsibility for not monitoring a patient in that situation. Please escort, with an orderly or volunteer, all patients leaving the hospital for the grounds or surrounding streets.
It’s a shame if the investigation discloses that the victim was just discharged and left without any escort and had to fend for herself. All trucks have blind spots and this the most common type of accident!
