Chaminade hoops player Kuany honored
Chaminade men’s basketball guard Kuany Kuany was named the Pacific West Conference’s Defender of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The junior averaged 8.3 rebounds in four games last week, including three games against Division I competition. Kuany pulled down nine boards each against then-No. 5 Kansas and UNLV. In Saturday’s win over Cal State San Marcos, he nearly tallied the program’s first triple-double since February 2007 with a 16-point, 11-rebound, nine-assist performance. Kuany averages 9.7 rebounds per game, ranking him first in the PacWest and 38th nationally.
The Silverswords open conference play Thursday against Concordia at McCabe Gym.
