Ex-big-leaguer allegedly head-butts officer
Bronson Sardinha, a former Major League Baseball and Kamehameha Schools player, was arrested early Sunday morning at a Waipahu shopping center parking lot after he allegedly head-butted a police officer.
Sardinha, 32, allegedly head-butted the 49-year-old officer, who had responded to a report of a man and woman fighting in the parking lot of a restaurant, police said.
Sardinha was released Monday pending further investigation on charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He also posted $1,000 bail for an outstanding warrant that was issued in August when he failed to appear for a District Court arraignment on a harassment charge.
Sardinha played for the New York Yankees in 2007 and retired from baseball as a minor-leaguer in 2011.
