» The 31st annual Honolulu City Lights opening-night festivities, Dec. 5 at Honolulu Hale:

• Food booths and keiki rides open 4 p.m. at Sky Gate.

• Kicks off 6 p.m. with a tree-lighting ceremony and Electric Light Parade.

• At 6:30 p.m., Mayor Kirk Caldwell illuminates the 50-foot tree, triggering the “corridor of lights” along King and Punchbowl streets. Honolulu Hale Courtyard opens with creative displays and ornaments on Christmas trees decorated by city employees and wreath contest entries in the Lane Gallery.

• At 7:30 p.m., enjoy a holiday concert on the stage near Sky Gate with Kapena, Amy Hanaiali’i, Kalei Gamiao and Halau Hula O Hokulani, and family activities on the grounds of Frank F. Fasi Civic Center. Visit Santa in the Mission Memorial Auditorium for free photos sponsored by Hawaiian Telcom. Parade vehicles will be parked between Honolulu Hale and Alapai/South streets until 8:30 p.m.

• The courtyard closes at 11 p.m.
