The Rainbow Wahine softball team wraps up fall practice by playing five games in two days in its annual Kama‘aina Tournament.
The Wahine face Chaminade in the opener at 5 p.m. Friday with the UH alumnae game to follow. They’ll start their Saturday schedule with a 10 a.m. game against UH Hilo and face the Vulcans and Chaminade again in the afternoon.
“We’ve got 10 rookies waiting to show what we can do so I’m excited about that,” UH coach Bob Coolen said.
The newcomers join a lineup led by senior right fielder Keiki Carlos and junior first baseman Heather Morales. The pitching staff returns sophomore Brittany Hitchcock, a first-team All-Big West pick last spring, and junior Kanani Aina Cabrales.
“We have a young team this year, a lot of new faces,” Carlos said.
The alumnae expected to return for Friday’s game include Leisha Li’ili’i and past All-Americans Kate Robinson, Kelly (Majam) Elms, Jessica Iwata, Tyleen Tausaga and Dana Degen.
