Officials are predicting that the U. S. Women’s National Team World Cup Victory Tour could draw a crowd of 25,000-30,000 to Aloha Stadium.
The Aloha Stadium Authority was told this week that more than 13,000 tickets had already been sold for the Dec. 6 match against Trinidad & Tobago.
Stadium manager Scott Chan said initial plans were to use just the facility’s lower bowl but additional areas might have to be opened if demand warrants.
The lower bowl seats approximately 32,000 in the 50,000-seat facility.
Chan said he expects the match to out-draw recent Major League Soccer and international events held at Aloha Stadium. This is the first time that the USWNT has played in Hawaii, which is the seventh stop of a 10-city tour.
The tour will mark the end of the career of Abby Wambach, the leading scorer in the history of international soccer.
