No, the volleyball season is far from over for the University of Hawaii Wahine — but this weekend does mark the team’s final home matches.
The always-exciting Wahine play the Stan Sheriff Center at 7 p.m. today against UC Riverside, before closing out the home stand at 5 p.m. Sunday against Cal State Fullerton.
As Coach Dave Shoji says, at this point it’s all about building momentum to finish the second half of the Big West season strong, and on the road.
Fans will be rooting on the Wahine from afar, after what is sure to be a lei-bedecked home finale Sunday.
Public can check on care homes
It’s taken a push — even beyond the passage of a law — to allow the public to check easily on the care home operators in whom they entrust the well-being of their loved ones.
But finally it’s starting to happen. Months after Act 213 required the state Department of Health to begin posting inspection reports online, there are now 186 of the documents there (health.hawaii.gov/ohca/inspection-reports/).
Typically, they’re not loaded with details, but there’s enough to signal potential problems. Some reports showed indications of “corrective actions,” some operators were given only a one-year recertification.
For someone facing the overwhelming challenge of finding proper care, having easy access to the reports can supply peace of mind, in at least some measure.
