The Hawaii Hilo and Cal State Monterey Bay women’s golf teams tied for first at the 9th Annual Dennis Rose Invitational on Tuesday at the Waikoloa Beach Course. The Vulcans (309-323-335) and the Otters (325-307-325) scored 967 after three rounds. SMU fell short by one stroke at 968, while Hawaii Pacific placed fifth of six teams.
St. Martin’s Jennifer Liedes claimed the individual title with her overall score of 225. Hawaii Pacific’s Mint Chimsuti tied for fourth with Hawaii Hilo’s Andi Igawa (234), followed by fellow Vulcan Kristen Sawada (237) in sixth place.
Vulcans fall short to Point Loma
Point Loma Nazarene’s Easton Kawawaki scored the winning goal in the seventh minute to lead the Sea Lions over the Hawaii Hilo women’s soccer team 1-0 on Tuesday in San Diego.
The Sea Lions (11-4-0, 8-2-0 PacWest) got off 24 more shots in the PacWest match, while the Vulcans (4-6-3, 3-6-0 PacWest) finished with just one. Goalkeeper Tiani Teanio recorded eight saves for Hawaii Hilo.

Concordia’s Miranda Canales scored her first goal of the season on a cross from Taylor Thurmond in the 22nd minute.
The Seasiders (5-6-2, 4-3-2 PacWest) recorded nine shots in the tie, while the Eagles (8-2-2, 7-1-1 PacWest) doubled that with seven shots on goal.
BYU-Hawaii mens soccer tops Eagles
Jake McRae scored two goals to lead the BYU-Hawaii men’s soccer team in a 5-3 rout of Concordia University at Irvine, Calif., on Tuesday.
Pawel Dregan posted a goal and two assists, while Steven Rodriguez and Besser Davila added a goal each for the Seasiders (7-7, 5-4 PacWest). BYU-Hawaii racked up 15 shots, compared to Concordia’s seven.
Isaac Gettis, Jeremy Gordon and Jacob Rodewald each contributed a goal for the Eagles (4-8-1, 4-4-1 PacWest).
