Brushfires break out near homeless camp, vacant lot
Firefighters were busy with two separate brush fires this morning.
The first fire broke out at about 1:06 a.m. near a homeless encampment in Aiea at Lipoa Place, near a bike path.
It took 11 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the fire that burned about 1,000 square feet of brush.
Firefighters were called back to the scene at 6:49 a.m. to douse remaining embers.
At 8:05 a.m. another brush fire was reported at a vacant lot at Haleakala Avenue and Mokiawa Street near Nanakuli High School.
It was extinguished 40 minutes later.

No injuries were reported in both cases.
The cause of the both fires was not determined.
