Dengue fever count rises by 7 cases to 72 on Hawaii island
The Department of Health has identified another high-risk area in the dengue outbreak on Hawaii island as the area of Naalehu-South Point.
A new map was released today as the number of confirmed cases is now at 72, up seven from Tuesday.
South Kona remains a high risk area for acquiring dengue.
The map is labeled, “Potential areas of infection by mosquito for confirmed dengue fever cases.”
The Health Department has not provided detailed numbers of people who contracted dengue and had possible exposure.
“Risk levels of areas where confirmed cases may have contracted dengue fever are determined by factors including the number of confirmed cases who reported visiting those ares, as well as observed mosquito activity,” the Health Department said in a caption to the map.
