Olaf no longer a tropical storm
Olaf continued to weaken overnight, becoming a post-tropical cyclone. Although it’s expected to head back toward Hawaii, forecasters expect the storm to dissipate by Thursday.
At 5 a.m. today, Olaf was located 1,355 miles east-northeast of Hilo, moving east-northeast at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
Gale-force winds extended outward up to 115 miles.
Forecasters said what’s left of Olaf is too far away for its remnants to be picked up by the trade winds and bring rain to the state.
