High surf advisory posted for east-facing shores of most islands
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory until 6 p.m. Friday for the east shores of most of the Hawaiian Islands.
An east swell combined with strong tradewinds will keep elevated rough surf at the eastern shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Hawaii island.
Weather officials estimate that surf will be 7- to 10-feet high.
They said beach goers should expect strong breaking waves and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
