Pieces of "The Store of Hawaii" also known as Hilo Hattie are up for sale as the kamaaina retailer working to emerge from bankruptcy prepares to move out of its flagship store location on Nimitz Highway in Iwilei.

The company is selling furniture, equipment and fixtures including a wooden tiki bar, a mammoth aloha shirt and the store’s illuminated outdoor sign with the company’s name on a red hibiscus. Retail merchandise is not being sold, given that Hilo Hattie anticipates opening a smaller new store at a site that has not yet been secured in Honolulu.

The liquidation sale started today at 9 a.m. in the store at 700 N. Nimitz Highway and is scheduled to last seven days.

Mark Storfer, Hilo Hattie chief operations officer, said in a statement that business owners and individuals will be able to get significant deals on items such as garment racks, mannequins, office furniture, framed art, restaurant equipment from an Internet cafe and other items.

The sale is being conducted by Oahu Auctions and is one of the final steps for Hilo Hattie to exit bankruptcy.
