Secret Service officer appears in court in sexting case
WILMINGTON, Del. » A Secret Service officer charged with trying to solicit a 14-year-old girl for sex made his first appearance in court and will be represented by a public defender.
Lee Robert Moore appeared today before a federal magistrate in Delaware. Wearing civilian clothes after being released from state prison into federal custody, Moore acknowledged that he understood the charges against him, and that he could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of trying to transfer obscene material to a minor.
After reviewing a financial affidavit from Moore, the judge appointed a public defender and scheduled a hearing for Thursday on a motion by prosecutors to detain him pending trial.
Moore posted $105,000 bond last week on separate state charges of sexual solicitation of a child under 18 and providing obscene material to a minor.
