The Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team fell on the road to Missouri-Kansas City 72-61 in an exhibition game on Monday.
After leading 32-23 at halftime, HPU was outscored 49-29 in the second half. The Sharks were led by Luke Hager and Jordan Martin, who had 15 points each. Martez Harrison had a game-high 20 points for UMKC.
The Sharks begin regular-season play on Friday with a road game against Alaska Fairbanks as part of the GNAC/PacWest challenge.
Passi earns PacWest weekly honor
Chaminade senior right-side hitter Keani Passi was named the PacWest conference women’s volleyball player of the week, the league announced on Monday.
The Pearl City graduate led the Silverswords to a 3-1 Bay Area road trip, notching double-doubles in all four matches. For the week, Passi totaled 73 kills, 52 digs, five blocks and five kills.
Next up for the Silverswords is a PacWest home match against Dixie State on Friday at 7 p.m.
