Mariota throws for 4 touchdowns in Titans’ win over Saints
NEW ORLEANS >> Marcus Mariota returned from being sidelined for two weeks with a knee injury to throw a walkoff touchdown in overtime and lift the Tennessee Titans past New Orleans, 34-28 today in the Superdome.
Mariota passed for four touchdowns and a two-point conversion and completed 28 of 39 passes for 371 yards.
The last one was a five-yard toss to Anthony Fasano, giving the 2-6 Titans their first win since the season opener.
Mariota had been sidelined for two weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee since Oct. 18.
The four touchdowns gave Mariota 13 for the season, breaking Vince Young’s franchise record for most in a season by a rookie.
The Titans had managed just one TD in Mariota’s absence.

Mariota started slowly failing to complete any of his first four passes today. But he connected on five consecutive passes after the slow start including touchdown tosses of 61 yards and two yards to Delanie Walker.
The 61-yarder, the longest of Mariota’s brief NFL career, probably should have been intercepted but two Saints defenders went up for it and Walker emerged with the tipped ball.
The 61-yard TD was the first by the Titans in an opening quarter since the season opener.
