Hawaii’s Tatiana Weston-Webb lost to Australia’s Tyler Wright 17.10 to 10.93 in the final of the Roxy Pro France on Thursday in Landes, Aquitaine, France.
Weston-Webb defeated fellow local surfer Carissa Moore 11.27 to 3.83 in the semifinals earlier Thursday.
In the men’s Quiksilver Pro France, which was held at the same site, Brazil’s Gabriel Medina beat Australia’s Bede Durbridge 17.50 to 9.44 in the final.
Medina eliminated Hawaii’s John John Florence 14.43 to 13.10 in the quarterfinals earlier Thursday.
Hill lifts Vulcans men to victory over BYUH
Scott Hill scored in double overtime off an assist from Cristian Ruelas as the Hawaii Hilo men’s soccer team beat Brigham Young-Hawaii 1-0 on Thursday in Hilo.
Hill scored on a header at 1:03:59 off Ruelas’ corner kick. Cassidy Dixon made 10 saves for the Vulcans (2-9, 1-5 PacWest).
Jaden Epplette had four saves for the Seasiders (4-7, 2-4).
Brigham Young-Hawaii women topple Hilo
Kate Orchard and Rebekah McCarthy scored first-half goals as the Brigham Young-Hawaii women’s soccer team beat Hawaii Hilo 2-0 on Thursday in Hilo.
Kelsey East made three saves for the Seasiders (3-6-2, 2-3-1 PacWest).
The Vulcans fell to 3-4-3, 2-4.
Hilo sweeps Notre Dame de Namur
Morgan Lees had 13 kills and four aces as Hawaii Hilo beat Notre Dame de Namur 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 on Thursday in Hilo.
Sienna Davis had 32 assists for the Vulcans (6-5, 4-4 PacWest).
Dominique Tarrant finished with 13 kills for the Argonauts (7-10, 3-5).
