Twenty-five fugitives were arrested for various offenses in a multi-law enforcement agency operation in Kona, the U.S. Marshals Service said Friday.
The Marshals Service, the Hawaii County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted a four-day operation targeting fugitives with outstanding state felony arrest warrants.
The operation that started Monday focused on targeting fugitives of violent crimes that include homicide, assault, robbery, firearms, explosives, sex offenses, narcotics and gang and organized crime affiliations.
In addition to the multiple arrests, law enforcement agenwcies seized 3.94 pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, 18 marijuana plants and various amounts of acetaminophen with hydrocodone and hashish with supplies for narcotics distribution from a residence where a fugitive was found and arrested on a firearms and narcotics warrant.
Police release suspect in officer injury
A 21-year-old Waialae-Kahala man in custody for allegedly injuring an officer with a vehicle during a traffic stop in Waikiki was released Thursday pending investigation.
Police said the man sped away from a traffic stop at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, causing injury to a 37-year-old officer.
The officer was treated for his injuries and released.
Police arrested the suspect at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for investigation of first-degree attempted murder.
