A flash flood watch is in effect for Hawaii until late to night, the National Weather Service said.
The alert came after the Big Island experienced 4 to 6 inches of rain within a 24-hour period Thursday.
The weather conditions that caused the heavy rain were moving northwest from the Big Isle to Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu and Kauai, the weather service said.
Weather service forecaster Ian Morrison said the deep tropical moisture will eventually meet a cold front from the north of Kauai, bringing more rain.
Forecasters said the potential for flash flooding could continue through the weekend as well.

App provides tracking details for Maui buses
Maui bus riders are now able to track their buses in real time, Maui County officials said in a news release.
The Rider app allows users to find buses live on a map and get accurate arrival predictions for their regular stops, according to the release.
“Knowing whether your bus is across town or around the corner will be a huge benefit for our riders,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa. “This will save everyone valuable time and make it easier for them to plan their day.”
The Rider app is made by TransLoc, a Durham, N.C.-based company. The TranLoc Rider app is being used by 135 agencies nationwide.
Riders also will be able to check route status online at MauiBus.TransLoc.com.
The Rider app can be downloaded from Google play (for Android phones) and Apple’s app store (for Apple phones).
