Tense finishes were a regular feature of Felix Albert’s spring semester with the Rainbow Warrior tennis program and he’s carried the trend into the fall.
Albert opened the season with a three-set win against Tulsa’s Dominic Bechard at the Napa Valley Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 11 and went the distance in three wins in the Saint Francis Heath System/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. last weekend.
Albert was entered in the prequalifying draw and opened with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win over Max Lunkin of Texas A&M in the round of 256 last Saturday. He then won third-set tiebreakers the next two rounds to advance to the round of 32 before having his run ended by UNLV’s Jakob Amilon.
Albert went 5-3 in three-set matches in the spring. He earned his first collegiate win with a comeback against Louisville in January and was named the Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on March 11.
