Coast Guard trying to find owner of boat found adrift off Waikiki
The Coast Guard is asking for help in identifying the owner of a small boat found partially submerged in waters off the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki Monday.
The vessel Molokai spotted the unmanned boat about a half-mile offshore at 8:18 a.m. and called the Coast Guard. Another boat, the Kalei towed it into the Ala Wai Boat Harbor.
There were no signs distress or reports of missing persons. No sheen was reported
The Coast Guard reminded vessel owners to properly secure small craft in harbors, marinas and on beaches to prevent them being washed out to sea in high surf and storm conditions.
Anyone with information about the boat, is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.
