The Department of Education closed two schools in Maui County because of the heavy rains.

Kilohana Elementary School on Molokai is closed, classes are canceled at Hana School and the Kihei Public Charter School closed at 11 a.m. on Maui.

On the Big Island, West Hawaii Explorations Academy, a public charter school in Kona, closed for the day because of the potential of heavy rains and possible thunder showers.

On Oahu, the Hakipu’u Learning Center charter school in Kaneohe closed Monday because of the rains.

However, the DOE said some school bus routes on west Oahu will be delayed because of flooded bus yard while road closures on Windward Oahu will affect school bus routes.
