The Hawaii soccer team continues to benefit from a strong tie with Outrigger Resorts.
David Carey, president and CEO of Outrigger Enterprises, announced Tuesday a new endowed scholarship fund with the UH foundation to help pay for UH soccer assistant coach salaries, Rainbow Wahine head coach Michele Nagamine said.
The fund, a $40,000 principle, will be named after Carey’s wife, former longtime Wahine assistant coach Kathy Carey. She was with the program from its roots as a club team and retired during the spring after more than 20 years of service, primarily as a volunteer coach.
Nagamine’s current assistant coaches are Mike Herman and Marc Fournier.
Outrigger also sponsors two of UH’s primary nonconference tournaments, the Outrigger Soccer Classic and No Ka Oi.
