Jackson Groves scored on a header off an assist from Erik Kemsies at 1:07:41 as the Hawaii Pacific men’s soccer team beat Notre Dame de Namur 1-0 on Monday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The goal came with three minutes remaining in double overtime.
Eduardo Palacios made five saves for the Sharks (4-2, 2-0 PacWest).
The Argonauts dropped to 2-4, 1-1.

Vulcans women fall on own goal
The Hawaii Hilo women’s soccer team surrendered an own goal at 1:02:41 in a 3-2 loss to Fresno Pacific on Monday at UH Hilo field.
The goal, which came in the second overtime, came after a Sunbirds corner kick deflected off a couple of players in front of the net.
The Vulcans (2-1-2, 1-1) took a 2-0 lead on goals by Abcde Zoller (26:46) and Skyla Wilson (51:39).
Amber Rodriguez (67:23) and Rachelle Schiller (85:10) scored for the Sunbirds (4-2, 2-0).

Fujii, Burwash to enter tennis hall of fame
Lurline Fujii and Peter Burwash have been selected as this year’s inductees to the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section Tennis Hall of Fame.
Fujii will receive the Hall of Fame Player Award and Burwash the Hall of Fame Education Award at the induction event on Nov. 21 at the Ala Moana Hotel.
Fujii has won 17 USTA National Balls and seven gold medals in the National Senior Games Association. She was among four women to represent the U.S. in the Althea Gibson Cup (70-plus) and helped the team win a world title in 2012. She also volunteers as the tournament director for the Hawaii Senior Olympics and helps maintain the grounds at the Diamond Head Tennis Center.
Burwash, an accomplished player and teacher, was the USPTA Professional of the Year in 1990 and was inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame in August. In 1975, he founded Peter Burwash International, and the company has operated programs on six islands and initiated the Wheelchair Tennis Foundation and a program for blind players.
Awards will also be presented to Diana Wong and Jeffrey Liang (Jim Howe Sportsmanship); Gerald, Diane, Kayla, Kyle and Kolby Kosaki (Family of the Year); South Maui Tennis Club (Organization of the Year); Holua Tennis Center (Facility of the Year); Faye Kim (President’s Award); Ted Gee (Special Service); and Honolulu Tennis League (Special Friend).
Schremmer out at Senior Women’s Amateur
Honolulu’s Patricia Schremmer was eliminated in the first round of match play at the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur on Monday in Nashville, Tenn.
Schremmer was defeated by Jane Fitzgerald of Kensington, Md., 1 up at Hillwood Country Club.
