Visitor, 49, died of medical condition during Big Isle swim
An autopsy has determined that a 49-year-old from Germany died from a medical condition while swimming Sunday in waters at Anaehoomalu Bay in Waikoloa.
Jurgen Essig, of Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany, was identified by his fingerprints, Big Island police said.
South Kohala police said Essig was pulled from the water at 12:59 p.m., and attempts to retrieve him failed.
