>> A gift from Bloomies: Bloomingdale’s is coming soon to Ala Moana Center (tentatively scheduled to open Nov. 12) and to get Hawaii ready, Bloomies is giving away frozen yogurt from its 40 Carrots truck at various island locales. Look for the black van with flowers and the words "Everything from fashion to frozen yogurt" painted on the side. The van is tentatively scheduled to be at Makers and Tasters on Wednesdays in October, this month’s Eat the Street on Oct. 30, next month’s First Friday in Chinatown, at Aulani Disney Resort and Spa today and Oct. 23, and at several other locations through Nov. 28. >> Line up for free beer: Samurai Grill Hawaii is joining the food-truck scene today at Pau Hana Market, 234 Beach Walk in Waikiki. As part of its grand-opening celebration, the grill is giving three beer tickets to each of the first 100 people in line who are 21 or older. The next 100 will receive food vouchers. Customers will be allowed to start lining up at 3 p.m. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m.
>> Third Tuesday at Tango: In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tango Contemporary Cafe is contributing some of the proceeds from its once-a-month prix fixe, wine-pairing dinner to the cause. This month, Trinchero Family Wines will be highlighted. The Tuesday menu: seabass escabeche with Trinchero Mary’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, 2014; a cauliflower casserole with kale, tomato and herbs paired with Complicated Pinot Noir, 2014; smoked prosciutto-wrapped pork tenderloin and wild boar sausage with Taken Red, 2013; and Blueberry Tiramisu with House Made Lady Fingers paired with Amador Double Barrel Whiskey. >> "The Boys are Back!" at Wong’s: Alan Wong’s Next Generation Dinner on Tuesday features the males in the kitchen. Dishes include an amuse-bouche of Hawaiian kampachi crudo by Michael Espejo, Kualoa shrimp and polenta by Jonathan Ikinaga, Keahole lobster salad by James Aung, onaga "nabe" by Espejo, Niihau lamb bourguignon by Ayumu Matsutaka and a kabocha ice cream sandwich by Chayce Remata. >> Step back in time with brunch: It will be the ’60s all over again in the Moana Surfrider’s Grand Salon on Oct. 24. Eileen Crane, master winemaker at Tattinger’s Domaine Carneros, will host the noon Champagne brunch that will be served family style with four bubbly wines. A selection of artisan breads and danishes with spreads will start the meal, followed by fruits, granola, beets and yogurt.
