In this Feb. 14, 2013 file photo, a hiker stopped briefly to admire an orchid, then continued on the hike.

Inclement weather today is forcing firefighters to hike about four miles to help two adults and two children stuck in the Koolau Mountains above Pearl City.

Firefighters received a call from the hikers after they ran into trouble on Waimano Trail, off Waimano Home Road, about 4:10 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Kendall Ching. No injuries were reported, but the hikers were unable to come out of the trail on their own.

Ching said firefighters could not use a helicopter to reach the party because of the weather.

Firefighters will trek to the hikers, who are about four miles into the trail, and guide them back out.
