Former state Deputy Attorney General Renee Sonobe Hong has been appointed state sheriff, the Department of Public Safety announced Thursday.
She will head the Sheriff Division effective Oct. 16.
Sonobe Hong most recently served as a deputy attorney general for several agencies, including the departments of Public Safety and Hawaiian Home Lands.
She also served as first deputy with the city Corporation Counsel’s office.
