Hilo inmate fails to report back from work furlough
A 26-year-old Hilo inmate on an extended work furlough is wanted on suspicion of second-degree escape for failure to report back today.
Joshua Lopes-Keli failed to check in at 3:30 p.m. at the Hale Nani Reintegration Center in Hilo, the Department of Public Safety said.
State sheriffs and police were notified of the escape.
Inmates in the extended work furlough program live and work outside the center, but are required to check in at designated times throughout the month.
Lopes-Keli is serving time for second-degree robbery.
His parole hearing was scheduled for October.
