Trial set for Colt Brennan on false police report misdemeanor
Former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan will appear in Circuit Court Sept. 28 to respond to a misdemeanor charge of making a false police report.
He was first arraigned in District Court on July 16, and the case is now moving through Circuit Court after he requested a jury trial at his initial arraignment.
Brennan was not in court Monday, but his attorney, Michael Green, entered a plea of not guilty on a criminal complaint filed against Brennan on June 19.
The complaint gave no details about the alleged false police report, or specify circumstances that led to the charge.
No other details were available from the prosceutor’s office.
After requesting the jury trial, Green told the court that Brennan was on the mainland.

No bail was set for the misdemeanor charge, which carries a maximum jail sentence of one year and a $2,000 fine.
The case will be heard by Judge Christine Kuriyama beginning week of Sept. 28.
Brennan set 31 NCAA records during his three years at Hawaii, including 58 touchdown passes in 2006.
In July 2013, he pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was fined $300.
Brennan was the Washington Redskins’ sixth-round pick in the 2008 National Football League draft. Brennan was with the Redskins for two seasons, spending the 2009 season on injured reserved, before being released in 2010. He was with the Oakland Raiders for a month in 2010 before also being released.
In May 2014, Brennan told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he had been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury.
Brennan said the condition was caused from injuries suffered in a 2010 two-car accident in which he was a passenger. Brennan was hospitalized for eight days with injuries to his head, ribs and collarbone from the Hawaii island accident on Nov. 19, 2010.
