Prosecutors charged a 34-year-old Kahuku man Thursday with using fraudulent personal information to buy a vehicle in July.
Gabriel Palolo was charged with first-degree identity theft, first-degree theft, second-degree forgery and unauthorized possession of confidential, personal information. Bail was set at $200,000.
Police said that on July 15 the man entered a Honolulu car dealership and used the fraudulent information to obtain credit to buy a vehicle that was valued at more than $20,000. The victim whose personal information was used was a 46-year-old woman, police said.
Woman allegedly stabs, slashes victim
A 22-year-old Pearl City man told police that his girlfriend stabbed him with scissors and slashed him with a knife Wednesday in their home.
The 22-year-old man said his 21-year-old girlfriend woke him up at 9 a.m. telling him to leave.
The suspect then grabbed scissors and stabbed her boyfriend in his left shoulder before going into the kitchen, grabbing a knife and slashing the man’s left arm, police said.
The man told police he saw the suspect outside the hospital where he was treated and called police. Officers arrested the woman on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Suspect sought in sex assault attempt
Police are looking for a man suspected of following a woman off a bus in Kapolei on Wednesday and trying to sexually assault her. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m.
The 19-year-old victim said the suspect grabbed her neck after she got off the bus, pulled her into the bushes and then tried to sexually assault her, police said.
Police opened a first-degree attempted sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault and kidnapping investigation.
Police did not release a description of the suspect.
Victim killed in crash is identified
Big Island police have identified a Washington state man who died Saturday after being involved in a traffic collision on Route 137, 0.1 mile south of the 17-mile marker in Puna.
He was identified as Richard Rice, 62, of Mill Creek, Wash.
An autopsy was conducted Wednesday but police are awaiting toxicology results.
Police ask anyone who may have seen the vehicle, a silver 2015 Hyundai Elantra four-door sedan, between 7:45 and 8:38 p.m. Saturday, or anyone with any other information about this case, to call officer Clarence Acob at 961-2332.
