Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person who struck and killed a 69-year-old Holualoa man whose body was found Aug. 9 in a coffee field in Captain Cook.
Police on Friday identified the victim as Dolores Borja Valle.
An autopsy showed that he died from sharp and blunt force trauma to the head, and the manner of death was homicide.
Valle’s body was found in a coffee field off Keopuka Mauka Road. His truck, a white 2014 Toyota Tacoma, was later recovered in Kau.
Police are continuing to investigate this case as a murder.

Puna man assaulted by masked intruders
Two masked men assaulted a 64-year-old Puna resident in his home Wednesday.
Hawaii island police said the incident occurred in Hawaiian Paradise Park and was reported at 8:25 p.m. at a home on 23rd Avenue. The attackers fled in a white Nissan or Datsun pickup truck.
One suspect was described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 180 pounds; the other, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 120 to 130 pounds. Both were described as being dressed in black with their faces obscured.
Police ask anyone with information about this case or the possible identity of the suspects to call the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide CrimeStoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
Visitor injured in fall at Iao Valley park
A California man fell 15 feet from an embankment while hiking near Iao Stream on Maui.
Maui officials said firefighters responded to a call at 10:39 a.m. Friday that a man was injured after falling at Iao Valley State Park in Wailuku.
A 29-year-old visitor from Elk Grove, Calif. was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and airlifted to the parking lot, where paramedics were waiting. The man was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition.
