JOAN SATO / SPECIAL TO THE STAR-ADVERTISER
Joan Sato of Aiea was visiting her brother Andrew, a Las Vegas resident, when
they stopped by the Kahuku Poke and Hawaiian Barbeque restaurant. After Andrew Sato found reviews of the eatery on Yelp, the siblings — both born and reared in Kahuku — had to try it. The menu was Korean-meets-Zippy’s, but no beef stew, though Joan vouched for the teriyaki beef as “quite good.” They were told the owner once operated Kahuku Superette.
