Hawaii basketball coach Eran Ganot released the schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 season on Friday afternoon.

The Rainbow Warriors have 19 home dates on their 29-game schedule, starting with Montana State of the Big Sky Conference in the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic on Nov. 13.

Highlights include a nonconference road game at Texas Tech on Nov. 28 and some tough competition in the annual Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Dec. 22-25. UH is also still working on a return to the Big Island to play Hawaii Hilo on Dec. 19, but it wasn’t quite finalized as of Friday.

“We are pleased to announce our 2015-16 schedule highlighted by 19 home games in front of the great fans of Hawaii at one of the best venues in the country, the Stan Sheriff Center,”  Ganot said in a UH release. “We are grateful to our wonderful sponsors Outrigger Resorts and Hawaiian Airlines, and the continued coverage by ESPN. The Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic also showcases quality opponents, and the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic gives us an opportunity to play some of the nation’s top teams.”

The most notable game on the nonconference schedule is the Lubbock, Texas, meeting with Texas Tech of the Big 12.

“Playing Texas Tech presents a great opportunity to play in front of a tough environment,” Ganot said in UH’s release. “Tubby Smith is one of the great coaches in college basketball and playing one of the perennial powers in the Big 12 will be both challenging and exciting.”

UH opens up its 16-game Big West schedule at home this season with Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara coming to town on Jan. 6 and 9. The Rainbows will finish the regular season on the road, at UC Davis and Long Beach State on March 3 and 5, just before heading to the Big West tournament.

“The Big West is a conference on the rise and will undoubtedly pose a challenge for us,” Ganot said.
