Prosecutors charged three suspects in connection with the death of a 65-year-old Whitmore Village man whose BMW was found burning near Makua on June 24.
Anjelita Rasa, 26, who has no local address, and Shane Rodrigues, 30, of Makaha, are charged with second-degree murder. They were being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Shaun Branco-Taniguchi is charged with being an accomplice to murder and was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
The suspects are also facing arson and firearms charges in the death of William Aki Jr., whose body was found just after midnight on June 24 at his Kaniahe Street home. Police went to the home after Aki’s car was found burning in Makua.
Police arrested Rasa at the main police station early Thursday morning and arrested the other suspects in the afternoon in Makaha and Waianae.
Suspect sought in Kapahulu store robbery
Police are looking for a man who robbed a Kapahulu convenience store at gunpoint Friday night.
Police said the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from a 52-year-old man working at the store at about 11:15 p.m.
The gunman took the money and fled on foot. No description of the suspect was released and police did not give the location of the store.
2 seriously injured in Kalihi park stabbing
Honolulu police are looking for suspects in a stabbing at a park in Kalihi that left two people in serious but stable condition Friday night.
Police said a 22-year-old man and a woman in her 20s got into a fight with two male suspects at about 10 p.m.
During the fight, the 22-year-old man suffered stab wounds to the neck and back. The woman suffered a wound to her thigh.
Paramedics treated and took the patients to the hospital in serious but stable condition from Fern Community Park on Middle Street at 10:08 p.m. Friday, Emergency Medical Services reported.
Police opened an attempted murder and assault investigation.
