Kolten Wong called up by the Cardinals
Multiple sources have confirmed that former University of Hawaii second baseman Kolten Wong has been called up by the St. Louis Cardinals and will join the team Friday in Chicago.
Wong sat out Thursday night’s game for Triple-A Memphis against Colorado Springs. In 107 games with the Redbirds, Wong hit .303 with 21 doubles, eight triples, 10 homers and 45 RBIs with 20 stolen bases.
St. Louis has yet to officially announce the move.
Wong is the second former Rainbow to be called up to the majors this season.
Knuckleballer Steven Wright, who pitched at UH from 2004-06, made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox in April.
