Lifeguards give swimmer CPR
A 76-year-old Japanese visitor nearly drowned Sunday morning in Hanauma Bay, Emergency Medical Services said.
The man was taken in critical condition to an area hospital just before 10:30 a.m.
EMS said city lifeguards performed CPR on the man and regained a pulse before paramedics arrived.
Paramedics took over treatment and transferred the man, EMS said.
EMS said the circumstances that led up to the event are currently unknown.
Moped rider injured in crash
A man on a moped, traveling at "high speed," struck a car head-on Saturday night in Ewa Beach, according to an Emergency Medical Services report. The accident was the fifth serious moped crash on Oahu in two days.
The accident happened on Hanakahi Street just after 10 p.m.
The 31-year-old moped rider was in serious condition when paramedics took him to the hospital.
Early Saturday morning a 24-year-old woman was critically injured when she apparently lost control of her moped and crashed in Aiea. The moped crash happened at Honomanu Street and Kamehameha Highway at about 1:07 a.m., an EMS official said.
Three other people were seriously injured in separate moped accidents Friday night in Kaimuki, Waimanalo and Waikiki.
