Wailea man dies from injuries suffered in Kihei crash
A 36-year-old Wailea man, who was injured when the car he was driving hit a parked trailer in Kihei in June, died Thursday at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui police reported.
Sirius Pereira was taken to the hospital in critical condition following the June 30 accident on Mapu Place. He died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday.
Police said drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
Pereira was heading eastbound on Mapu Place when he drifted off the road and hit a trailer parked on the eastbound shoulder of the road at 7:58 p.m. June 30.
