Coco Ho wins battle of Hawaii’s top women surfers
Coco Ho won a battle of Hawaii’s top women surfers in the Vans US Open Women’s World Championship Tour event in Huntington Beach, Calif. today.
In a non-elimination round 3 competition, Ho, 22, advanced to the quarterfinals over former ASP Women’s World Champion Carissa Moore, 20, and Kauai’s Alana Blanchard, 22.
“It was cool to surf with Carissa (Moore) and Alana (Blanchard) and it’s a heat we’ve all had before,” Ho said in a news release from the Association of Surfing Professionals. “We try to have fun in that no losers round and I’m happy I got through. I think all of the adrenaline and psych makes you push harder on every turn and that’s what I’m going for.”
Moore and Blanchard will compete again Friday to try and advance to the quarterfinals.
