Repairs will cut water supply in Hanalei area
The Kauai Department of Water will shut off supplies in the Hanalei area from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday while valves are replaced at a tank.
Princeville Utilities Co., which supplied water to county customers during previous shut-offs, will be unable to do so this time.
Customers in Hanalei and Waipa, from Ohiki Road to Waikoko Beach, will have not have water for the eight-hour period.
Customers and businesses will be notified by water officials. A map of affected areas can be found at www.kauaiwater.org.
The department will provide portable water tanks at Waioli Park (Hanalei Park) for customers who need water. Customers will need to bring their own water containers.

Shooting incident lands Hilo man in police custody
A 22-year-old Hilo man has been charged in connection with an incident in which guns were fired from a moving car late Monday night.
Alfred Fuller IV was being held in lieu of $7,500 bail on first-degree reckless endangering and firearms charges.
Police responded to a report of gunshots being fired from a car on Haihai Street between Heahea Street and Kinoole Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. Monday. Officers stopped a 1996 silver Volkswagen Jetta and arrested three men and two 16-year-old boys.
Pending further investigation, the two other men were released and the juveniles released to their parents.
