Maui police officers arrested three men after a robbery at a convenience store in Wailuku on Wednesday morning, chasing two of them as they ran away and and arresting the third who drove off in a pickup truck.
Two men wearing hooded sweaters and masks entered the Minit Stop Store at about 6:50 a.m., and demanded money from the cashiers, police said.
One of the men had what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol while the other carried a pipe, police said.
The men, 24 and 25 years old, bolted out the door when they heard police sirens and ran toward Waiale Drive, while a third drove away in a pickup truck.
Officers chased the men and caught them in front of apartments on Nani Street.
Police said the weapons used in the robbery were recovered.
The driver, 23, was arrested after he was pulled over in the Lahaina-bound lanes of Honoapiilani Highway in Maalaea.
Traffic enforcement officers stopped him as the truck sped and cut in and out of traffic.
The men were being held at the Wailuku cellblock, and the investigation of the robbery was continuing, police said.
No injuries were reported.
