Heavy rain over the Koolau Mountains prompted a flood advisory for Oahu on Monday night.
The National Weather Service said gauges in Nuuanu and at Lyon Arboretum showed more than an inch per hour falling at about 7:15 p.m.
Other areas of heavy rainfall included Heeia, Ahuimanu, Kahaluu, Waiahole, Waikane and near Likelike Highway and H-3 tunnels.
Forecasters say people should stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff could cause hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility.

Forecasters say showers could spread to Kauai today. Oahu and Kauai can also expect muggy weather until the tradewinds return Wednesday.
