Xpress Hoops impresses in tournaments

Hawaii Xpress Hoops’ girls 17-and-under team went 12-1 in a recent 10-day trip highlighted by high finishes in tournaments in Oregon and Washington.

The team, coached by Rodney Cavaco and Fran Villarmia-Kahawai, won its bracket and placed second overall in the 110-team All-Star Division at the End of the Trail tournament in Oregon.

The team also competed in the 16th annual MSNM National Championships in Washington and again finished first in its bracket and was one of the top three teams overall. But it didn’t enter the tournament playoffs due to injuries.

Team members are Alohi Robins-Hardy (Kamehameha), Mich’lae Higa (Aiea), Jeneva Toilolo (Farrington), Patria Vaimaona (Kailua), Chanelle Molina (Konewaena), Ihi Victor (Konawaena) and Taufau Williams (Kailua).
