Kona brush fire forces evacuation of condo
Big Island firefighters are battling a 100-acre brush fire on Hulikoa Drive in Kailua-Kona.
The massive fire, which was first reported around 11:15 a.m., prompted an evacuation of the nearby Lokahi Makai apartments.
An evacuation center is open to area residents at the West Hawaii Civic Center.
Police have closed Hulikoa Drive while firefighters continue to try to contain the fire.
